This was the start of a complete transformation of bike geometry.Kinda crazy when you realize just how long it took for mountain bike geometry to really fully seperate from the original road mentality considering there was a ton of innovation going on constantly yet geometry was stuck in a conservative box. Everyone raved about a simple design suspension mtb because it had the geo right. Everyone else soon followed. Hopefully Kona will become relevant again because they have a pretty respectable legacy in mountain biking. Funny, I always saw them as being similar to Rocky Mountain very similar roots, very close competitors but somehow they just faded away. They were incredibly popular here in BC in the 90s, with the rise in freeride. Plenty of innovative bikes with inappropriate names. Right up until this line which got rave reviews. It looked like they were on an upward trajectory but they just kinda got forgotten. Maybe trying to do too many things? They had bikes of all genres. Back in the hands of the original owners. Hopefully they can turn the ship around.

How does it compare to todays Mattoc Pro, is the current model well enough for light enduro @ 150mm 29" or would i need the Mezzer? Tempted to keep it light for long days and even multidays in a Banshee Prime

amazing and so scary at the same time

In 2016 I had to buy a new DH Fork for Special. DEMO 8.2. Fox 40 after market price 2300 € ridiculous, so I took I closer look on the Dorrado and boxxer World cup ( I work as a Bike mechanic, so I get the shop buying prices) and I got really interested in the dorrado (DVO EMMERALD sucked, at this time, I already saw a few broken, so out of my interest). But, du you know why I got really suspicious? In cross country race ( Wich I don't watch) ass well as Enduro race, nobody drives Manitou Forks! And this famous up-side down DH fork? Yes, you have some Worldcup riders, but how much of them you have in total? It's just my thought's, but if the fork would be so bad ass good, in damper technic ass well the up side down technic, at least here in Bavaria or Germany, I had seen more of them, since 2010. But, they're getting less and more less❓❓❓❓❓

This bike was really easy to assemble ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
